Justice N K Balakrishnan of the Kerala High Court on Friday recused himself from hearing the bail applications of the accused in the T P Chandrasekharan and Shukkoor murder cases.
Justice Balakrishnan declined to hear the anticipatory bail plea of R S Sanal Kumar, junior accounts officer at the BSNL Customer Care Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, an accused in the phone leaking case in connection with TP murder, and the bail plea of T V Rajesh MLA, the 39th accused in the Shukkoor murder case.
The CPM leaders had reportedly stated that Justice Balakrishnan, who is hearing the bail pleas, is the junior of Justice C K Sreedharan, who has been appointed as the Special Prosecutor in both the cases.
When the case came up for hearing on Friday, the judge asked the registry to post it to another bench. However, the court will pronounce the order on the bail pleas of the 12 CPM activists, who are accused in the TP case, on Monday.
