Karnataka impounding water, no flow to AP
Karnataka impounding water, no flow to AP

The water crisis is aggravating in the state and the direct reason for this is the scant water inflow into the reservoirs of the state.

Neighbouring state Karnataka is impounding water in it's own reservoirs leaving the low water inflow in the water reservoirs of Andhra Pradesh.

The Almatti dam in Karnataka is receiving good inflows but the out-flowing water is being imponded. As a result, Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar Project are not receiving much water.

On the other hand, Maharashtra did not receive normal rainfall leaving low inflow of Godavari water into Srisailam.

The inflows into Almatti is 62,622 cusecs daily but the outflow is only 1,000 cusecs.

The level of Srisailam Dam is decreasing day-by-day. Last year, the volume of water was 32 tmcft. But, the current volume is is only nine tmcft.

In Srikakulam, the flood water in Vamsadhara is also being released into sea without using it properly.
