KOZHIKODE: Kerala Congress (B) chairman R Balakrishna Pillai has said that the party had decided to give the UDF one more chance to solve the issue with its representative Minister for Forests K B Ganesh Kumar. Addressing media persons after the Kerala Congress (B) secretariat meet held here on Sunday, Pillai said: “We hope the UDF to hold a discussion in a day or two at Thiruvananthapuram. Talks with the UDF have been initiated taking into consideration the prevailing political scenario. If no solution comes out, the party would take stern action,” he added. “A minister should work as per the direction of the party which made him the minister. He should continue to be a member of the party. In the discussion that was held on April 18, UDF had decided to fulfil our demand, but it has not realised yet,” said Pillai. “Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is protecting Ganesh Kumar as the number of MLAs is limited. Chandy, along with KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and UDF convener P P Thankachan, forcefully gave the portfolio of Forests to Ganesh. If he is an efficient minister, encroachment would not have happened in Parvathi Hills. Ganesh is liable to obey the directions of the party,” added Balakrishna Pillai. Pillai also said that Kerala Congress (B) would campaign actively in the Neyyattinkara by-polls and would lend all support to make the UDF candidate emerge victorious. Later, he inaugurated the Kozhikode district leadership camp of the party here. The relevance of the regional political parties has increased, said Balakrishna Pillai during his inaugural address. The recent poll verdict in UP and other states prove this, he added. Referring to the VS-Pinarayi feud, Pillai said the state was looking for answers to the questions, if VS would be expelled from the CPM or the party he would bow before VS. Kerala Congress (B) district president K M Nizar presided over the meeting. Party state secretary Najeem Palakandi, district general secretary Soorjith Gopal, leaders K Venugopalan Nair and Pradeep Chombala spoke.
