The Customs Department is taking all efforts to minimise the problems being faced by the exporters and importers, Customs Commissioner K N Raghavan has said.

He was inaugurating the seminar organised by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KCCI) here on Tuesday. “The duties of the Customs Department are  limited to enforcing rules, and people were forced to wait in long queues to get customs clearance for goods. Things have changed now. All the documents can be submitted online,” he said. M P Deepak Kumar Shetty, vice-chairman of  KCCI, presided over the function. C V George, general manager of Reserve Bank of India, Kochi, was the guest of honour.

M K Ansari,   director of KCCI and S S Mallikarjuna Rao, deputy general manager of Oriental Bank of Commerce, Bangalore, also spoke. Shyni Sunil, N N Menon, J P Menon, Bibin Myloth were also present.
