HYDERABAD: Why has TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao made yet another prediction on formation of Telangana? And why is the pink party raking up Krishna water issue now? Analysts say , KCR wants to embarrass the Congress and, at the same time, help YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Soon after the announcement of the bypoll schedule for one Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly seats in 12 districts, the TRS leader raised the Krishna water issue and demanded an all-party meeting to discuss the tribunal’s award on allocation of waters and the ‘rightful’ share of Telangana. He made the demand in a letter to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The TRS chief has met irrigation experts recently and discussed Telangana’s share of Krishna water. The TRS leader calculates that a debate on Krishna water sharing would force the political parties to shed their ambivalence and adopt a definite approach to the Telangana statehood demand. But no political party has reacted to his demand so far but the chief minister said he had no objection to convening an all-party meeting. Congress leaders from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions have not reacted.KCR’s prediction on formation of Telangana state, is intended to help Jagan cash in on anti-Congress mood among the people of Andhra region. The voters in Andhra region, who do not want the state to be bifurcated, might vote in favour of Jagan if he is able to convince them that the Cong is getting ready to divide the state. This line of propaganda will spoil the electoral prospects of Congress in Andhra and Rayalaseema where its leaders are campaigning that all major political parties, except the Congress, have already decided not to oppose state’s division.
