A property dispute in Chengannur in Kerala turned fatal after 36-year-old Sherin John allegedly shot dead his NRI father Joy and then chopped his body into several pieces.
The police believe that Sherin also tried to burn his father's body and dumped the remains in various areas, including the Pampa river. According to a report in Manorama Online, the severed head was found in Chingavanam while some body parts were recovered from an area near Changanassery Bypass.
The police registered a case and launched the probe based on a complaint by Joy’s wife Mariyamma. According to her, the father and son had gone to Thiruvananthapuram in their car on May 25.
They had an altercation during their return journey. The son phoned her in the evening and informed that he accidentally shot his father. He switched off his mobile phone after making the call.
Police have arrested Sherin and claim that he confessed to the crime.
The body parts recovered from the site have been sent for DNA testing.
