THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Seeking to ensure transparency, the Congress-led UDF government in Kerala has directed all police officers above the rank of Sub-Inspectors to disclose details of their income and assets.The circular issued by Director General of Police Jacob Punnonse on Saturday asked the officers to submit details of their income and assets and those of their immediate relatives to their superiors.The circular made a special note of recent reports regarding fraudulent business dealings like money-chains and alleged link of some police officers with them."It is essential for the police officers, who are bound to enforce anti-corruption laws, to be above all suspicion and ensure transparency in their personal and public life. So, it is vitally important that the credibility of the police force is maintained," the circular said.The officers had been asked to report to their immediate superiors about their annual income by way of salary non-salary means. They should also reveal details of their associations with business ventures, if any, income and other asset details of their spouses and children.They would also report the details of the vehicles owned by them and their spouses or children.The information would be kept confidential and they should not be disclosed to the public without the consent of the officer concerned or the government.
