HUBLI: With the circuit bench of the High Court dismissing the anticipatory bail petition of Bellary Municipal Corporation member Diwakar and Sunil Reddy, an associate of Karnataka Milk Federation chairman Somashekhar Reddy, here on Friday, the duo could soon find themselves behind bars. The Bellary police had filed a case against the two and eleven others for allegedly ransacking government offices during the Bellary bandh, which was called a day after mining baron G Janardhana Reddy was arrested on September 5.They had earlier filed an anticipatory bail petition before the district court in Bellary. However, when the court refused to entertain their petition, the accused moved the High Court circuit bench. Justice Anand Byrareddy, who heard the petition, refused bail. In another petition challenging the order of a Bellary court, a single bench headed by Justice Anand Byrareddy has directed to issue summons against Somashekar Reddy. Following a reported land dispute between the petitioner Sankappa, a contractor, and Janardhan, Somashekhar Reddy’s car driver, Sankappa had accused Reddy and Janardhan of intimidation and caste abuse in a private complaint filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Bellary, which was dismissed. Sankappa has now moved the High Court challenging the lower court order.
