Sometimes you push life to the brink by running about finishing your work, attending parties, surfing the net, aimlessly flitting around social networking sites and chatting on the internet with total strangers. At the end of the day, or rather, one such fretting week, you fall sick. It can be a cough, cold, fever, headache, upset stomach or anything that makes you lie. Well, pain of any kind is nature’s way of telling you that change is happening. You don’t need to invite pain into your life. Welcome pain wholeheartedly by accepting it first, “Yes, I know you have good reason to come! Welcome to my home, the body and mind!”Once a guest comes to your home, it is basic courtesy to attend to that person whether you like him or not.  It is the same with pain too. She is a guest who has come, not totally uncalled for, but as a result of your invitation by living a reckless life of speed and unawareness. Whether it is pain of the body, pain of the emotions in relationships, pain of the mind in the form of stress, frustration or a lack of interest in life – they are just your guests who have come at your earnest invitation. Treat them well by accepting them first. When they smile and leave your home, you would have shifted to a higher plane of consciousness related to what the pain is. A baby in my neighbourhood had turned one and wouldn’t go to anyone else except her mother, who usually carried her around the whole day. The baby got a big boil on her forehead, which was finally operated and removed. In just another week’s time, she fell down and got a big bump in the very same place. That evening, after all the crying was over, she went to the very hands of the neighbour she earlier refused to go to, leaving her mother. This amazing transformational shift that happened got all the women in the neighbourhood talking about how a child grows and learns from falling and getting hurt. So, getting hurt is no big deal. It is a symbol of change. If you go for an interview and don’t get selected, you may get hurt, it might disappoint you. It is completely alright as change is happening and along with it a preparation for something better that is to follow. Your mind expands, changing what you focus on. When there is pain, focus on the change. This will expand your personality — you will begin to adapt with it soon.

What's your reaction?
