PATHANAMTHITTA: Lakhs of faithful participated in the pilgrimage sangamam held as part of the 109th commemoration perunnal of Geevarghese Mar Gregorios Metropolitan at Parumala near Tiruvalla on Tuesday. The pilgrimage sangamam programmes began with Special Holy Mass led by Yuhanon Mar Policarpus at 7.30 am. Catholicos Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II was felicitated at the function marking the first anniversary of the installation of the Catholicos. Thomas Mar Athanasios presided over the function. Mathews Mar Severios welcomed the gathering. State Human Rights Commission chairman Benjamin Koshy delivered the felicitation message.Geevarghese Mar Julios, Abraham Mar Zeraphim, M G George Muthoot and George Joseph offered felicitations. Delivering the reply speech, Catholicos Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II stressed the need for a life with a spiritual base to face present-day challenges. The mega choir held as part of the perunnal was inaugurated by noted film director Blessy. Catholicos Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II presided over the function.The sangamam concluded after the reception to the procession led by the Catholicos for the perunnal evening Mass at 6 pm, blessings and rally at 8 pm.
