TIRUPATI: Government will soon bring out a land policy for the allotment of lands in a transparent manner, revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy said.Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting with the district officials of IKP, revenue, district collector and joint collector on Wednesday, the minister admitted that the present land policy is in favour of affluent sections. In the present policy, while an influential person can get 200 acres, against his actual need of 40 or 50 acres, at a nominal rate or even free of cost, the less fortunate have to struggle to get a piece of land, Raghuveera said and sought the help of officials for a fair land policy. When asked about the delay in issuing caste certificate more so to SC and STs, the revenue minister said the government is thinking of introducing a system similar to that of Karnataka where caste certificates for SC, STs will be issued in the schools that they studied in and not by the Tahsildar.
