RAMANATHAPURAM: Fishermen from Rameswaram, who were fishing near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), were chased away by Sri Lankan Navy personnel on Wednesday. More than 500 mechanised boats had set out for fishing from Rameswaram on Wednesday. The fishermen are forced to cross the International Maritime Boundary Line for a good catch, they are prevented from doing so by the Lankan Navy which anchors its vessels across the boundary line. Therefore, the fishermen have to wait for more than five hours to cross  the International Maritime Boundary Line.Meanwhile, the Lankan Navy chased away the Rameswaram fishermen from the International Maritime Boundary Line and warned them not to enter their waters. However, a group of fishermen managed to enter the Lankan waters after the navy moved away after some hours.  It is said that the fishermen from Rameswaram were not attacked by the Navy, nor did they damage the boats or fishing gear.
