Bangalore: A terror alert has been sounded across south India, Karnataka in particular, after the police came across shocking details that as many as 50 Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives are on the prowl in Karnataka, waiting to strike terror.
Police sources claim from all indications, the terrorists seem to be out to launch an all-out war in order to destablise the Indian economy.
The Karnataka police have unearthed this deep-rooted terror network after the arrest of a Kashmiri militant, who was apprehended about 15 days back. Imran, a suspected arms supplier, has revealed details of a terror network that has already spread its tentacles to several corners of the southern states.
Acting on the tipoff, a police team has already swung into action and conducted raids in areas like Gulbarga, Raichur, Hubli, Bijapur and Belgaum.
Sources say Imran, who was running a handicraft business in Hampi, has also confessed to his involvement in the attack on the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore in 2005. He has claimed that Indian groups, and not Pakistani militants, carried out the attack.
The police had recovered some grenades and other weapons from the possession of the 34-year-old man. Imran has also revealed certain shocking details about several other major terror strikes that rocked the country over the past two years.
Imran claims that he had prior information of the Delhi serial bomb blasts in 2005. Police sources also claim that he had links with the suspects of 7/11 blast in Mumbai and some other Simi activists.
Imran says his key mission in the South was to recruit Muslim youth. The Karnataka police are going to conduct a narco analysis test on him to get more information on his terror links.
