MANDYA: Expressing displeasure over the delay in appointment of Lokayukta in Karnataka, Union Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily suggested that the state government look for alternative candidates apart from Justice S R Bannurmath.He was addressing the Media on the sidelines of a private function here on Tuesday, where he said that the state government should not be adamant on appointing Justice Bannurmath as he is facing severe allegations of corruption.“The government is unnecessarily delaying the appointment of the Lokayukta chief despite the availability of several qualified persons for the post. Never has this post gone vacant for such a long time,” he added.‘Team Anna Creating Anarchy’Reiterating the UPA government’s stand on the Jan Lokpal Bill, Moily said that the Union government is committed to bringing in a strong Lokpal Bill.Accusing Team Anna and the BJP of creating anarchy over the issue, he said that out of the 42 conditions put forth by Team Anna, the UPA government had considered 36. “The remaining six issues needs to be debated in the Parliament and it cannot be accepted unilaterally,” he said.He also said that the Congress will face the next general elections independently and will grant poll tickets only to those free of corruption charges.
