Man held with contraband drug

KOCHI: In a major narcotics haul, the City Shadow Police team and Mulavukad police on Monday arrested a drug dealer here.  According to the police, Faizal, 40, Kuruppathu Veedu, Kalamassery, was carrying nearly thousand ampoules with him at the time of arrest.Faizal had been arrested earlier on several occasions in connection with drug trafficking cases.  He was in Poojappura Central Jail for several months and was released just six months ago.  The police said that soon after his release from jail, Faizal started using drugs and later shifted to drug peddling. He is suspected to be a part of several major drug dealings in the city.Last week, the City Shadow Police had seized 500 ampoules. Following this, the Shadow Police team had strengthened its surveillance in the city as per the instruction of City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar.  The special patrolling teams of the Shadow Police led by Special Branch Assistant Commissioner M Shamsu Illikkal and Shadow Police sub-inspectors Muhammed Nizar and Suresh Babu were observing the drug-peddling activities.Vowing to take stern action against drug trafficking, Ajith Kumar sought public support in busting the drug rackets.
