New Delhi: The Manoj Vashishth encounter case, involving the Delhi Police, has now been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Vashishth was shot dead in an encounter at a restaurant in Patel Nagar area of the national capital.
Vashishth allegedly had several cases of cheating filed against him. CCTV footage of the incident had also shown that he resisted arrest by the police and then reportedly opened fire at the police.
However, Vashishth’s family had alleged that it was a fake encounter.
Following the encounter, nine policemen who were part of the team were transferred over family’s concern.
The city police top brass had also launched a vigilance probe into the case, which was separate from the SIT and magisterial inquiries already underway.
