As many as 970 central delegates of the BSP from across 20 states re-elected Mayawati as the party's national President at a meeting in the party office in Lucknow.
Returning officer Amat Raja called the presidents and vice-presidents of the BSP state units one by one on the stage to propose the names of the candidates and their seconders.
As all the delegates proposed and seconded the name of Mayawati, the Returning Officer later declared her as the new national President for a period of three years.
