A minor girl was allegedly raped and then set ablaze by her boyfriend in Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night.
The incident took place in Bisrakh village in Greater Noida when the girl was forcibly taken to a secluded place by a local youth and was sexually assaulted.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that she tried to alert the local villagers but the accused set her on fire in a fit of rage.
The victim, who somehow managed to survive the assault, was admitted to a hospital. Later she was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
The accused has been arrested on charges of rape and an attempt to murder.
"The accused is a local youth and he was harassing my daughter for the last few months. We want stern action against him," victim's father said.
