Modi factor won't work here, says state Congress chief
Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Arun Yadav on Wednesday claimed that "Modi factor" will not have any impact in the state in the Lok Sabha polls.

Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Arun Yadav on Wednesday claimed that "Modi factor" will not have any impact in the state in the Lok Sabha polls.

"(Narendra) Modi factor will not have any effect, especially in rural areas of the state. Rural voters normally vote on the basis of performance of their MP, (considering) whether he has done anything for them," Yadav said while speaking to reporters at the Indore Press Club.

"We will contest the Lok Sabha elections on local issues and will expose BJP's misdeeds in the last ten years of its rule in the state," the Congress leader said.

BJP was trying to create the same atmosphere in the name of Narendra Modi (its prime ministerial candidate) in 2004 and 2009, but everybody knew what happened in those elections, he said.

Yadav termed as "hollow" Modi's 'Chai pe charcha' programme and said people had not forgotten how the saffron party had "fooled" them on the issue of Ram temple at Ayodhya.

Answering a question on factionalism in Congress, Yadav said he was trying to strengthen the party at the booth level and was getting full support from the senior leaders in the state.
