New Delhi: A three-day cultural extravaganza marking the 'Delhi Day' celebrations in Moscow with performances by noted artistes like Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, begins from Monday.
There will also be screenings of Bollywood blockbusters Parineeta and Chokher Bali.
Organised as per the protocol signed between the Governments of Moscow and Delhi, the festival would be jointly inaugurated by the Mayor of Moscow and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
Dikshit left for the Russian capital on Monday morning along with a seven-member official delegation.
The best of Indian traditional folk music and dances, including Garba, Raibans, Bihu and Rampaa will be performed in the festival.
Two shows of Bollywood films including Parineeta and Chokher Bali will also be held besides a literary meet featuring lyricist Javed Akhtar, Hindi litterateur Kailash Vajpayee, actor Shabana Azmi and writer Upamanyu Chatterjee.
Apart from this contemporary artistes including rock band Euphoria, will also perform at the function.
The official Indian delegation includes Delhi Tourism Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely and a host of government officials and business representatives.
India and Russia have been holding the festival in Moscow and Delhi every alternate year as part of the ‘sister-city pact’ inked between the two countries a few years back.
Last year, Russia had showcased its cultural heritage in Delhi and this year it is India's turn to unveil its artistic, architectural, culinary and socio-cultural magic in the erstwhile soviet capital.
