NALGONDA: Chowtuppal police arrested four persons who had planned to kill the accused in the murder of former Maoist Sambasivudu, said district SP Naveen Gulati here on Wednesday.
The four arrested are Konda Arun, Chinthakuntla Kishore Reddy, Gunja Shivakumar and Komatireddy Shekar Reddy, police said and added that three others: Ashok Reddy, B Arvind and kingpin Ramulu are absconding. According to police, former Naxalite state secretary Konapuri Illaiah alias Sambhashivudu was murdered by another former Maoist Nayeem and his gang members in Gokaram village of Valigonda mandal on on March 26.

In retaliation to his murder, Konapuri Illaiah's brother, Konapuri Ramulu who is also a former Maoist, hatched a plan to kill those responsible for his brother's murder. For this, he had approached one Konda Arun, native of Miryalaguda area, currently residing in Hyderabad, to kill the accused and promised to give huge sum of money to Arun. Later, Ramulu showed the pictures of the accused persons and asked Arun to kill one Suresh, another person involved in Illaiah's killing.

Based on this information, Arun and his gang planned to kill Suresh on the court premises in Nalgonda but could not kill him because the place was crowded. Later, while Suresh was on his way to Hyderabad, they followed him and were caught by Chowtuppal police during police checking. On interrogation, Arun and his gang confessed to Chowtuppal police that they were about to kill Suresh as per the directions of Ramulu.
