Muthukads magic to spread awareness

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Expressing solidarity with the people residing on the banks of Periyar and Mulleperiyar downstream, renowned magician Gopinath Muthukad will organise ‘Jalapravaham’- a magical gala event - at Vandiperiyar St Joseph English Medium school ground on Tuesday.The programme is intended to convey the message that a dam failure will result in havoc resulting in heavy loss of life in the four districts of the state.Four floors will be set up in the platform to denote the four districts which are currently under threat. Twenty people including cine actor Suresh Krishna will  assemble on the platform and an illusion of being washed away in the water current in the event of the dam collapse, will be created.   The performance is designed to spread awareness that preventing a catastrophe is better than trying to deal with the aftermath of the tragedy. The programme will be performed in front of hundreds of people including leaders of various political parties and those from the cultural field.
