With the Winter/Festive season of this year’s Lakme Fashion Week back on everyone’s radar, the next few days would be spent with designers and Bollywood celebs creating close alliances with each other in respect to who would be walking the ramp for whom.
Speculations will run amok and the shutterbugs will be watching the developments closely. However, leading designer Nachiket Barve says he wants to distance himself from this frenzy of “Bollywood calling.”
Speaking exclusively to IBNLive.com, the Mumbai-based designer admitted that he was never one to chase Bollywood celebs to walk as showstopper at any of his shows. He says, “No Bollywood for me on the ramp. I have always maintained this all along. But off the ramp, it may be different.”
Nachiket, who has always seemed to stay away from the blinding archlights and is one of the very few designers who personally sit at their stalls and interact one-to-one with the buyers, says that at this season of LFW too, he will not have any Bollywood actor walking for him. He however says that he will spring up a “big surprise” off the ramp with some stellar B-town presence that is sure to make news.
We recall, at the last season, when Slumdog Millionaire actor Freida Pinto flew into the country especially to attend the Christopher Kane and Anthony Mascolo TIGI Catwalk show, it sent the media into quite a tizzy. We ask Nachiket if he has a bigger surprise up his sleeve. The designer laughs and adds, “It will be bigger. Just wait and watch.” Nachiket will show his Winter/Festive collection at LFW on 19th September.
