CHENNAI: Makkal Nala Paniyalargal Sangam has moved the Madras High Court seeking to punish the Secretary and the Commissioner of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department for disobeying the orders dated January 23 this year of the HC. By the January 23 order, Justice K Suguna had set aside a GO dated November 8, 2011, which sacked enmasse nearly 13,000 MNPs from service and directed the authorities concerned to reinstate them with all benefits. Petitioner association contended that it was obvious from the conduct of the authorities concerned that their only intention was to stall the proceedings and to never implement the orders. Their contract term was coming to an end by May 13 this year, petitioner pointed out. Justice K Suguna ordered notice returnable in two weeks.
