Islamabad: Even as a man from Pakistan has already claimed to be the father of captured terrorist Usman Khan alias Mohammad Naved, the media across the border on Sunday remained in denial mode.
The Pakistani media on Sunday claimed that the Udhampur attacker hailed from Jammu and Kashmir, and not Pakistan. According to the media of the neighbouring country, Usman is a resident of Kulgam in J&K, and not of Faisalabad in Pakistan.
Hamid Mir of Pakistan’s Geo News further said that Usman was mentally unstable and earlier worked as a bus conductor. He, however, refused to reveal his sources when asked about the same.
However, Indian maintained that Usman was an open and shut case, pointing that Pakistan had refused to own 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab as well.
This came after Pakistan had termed India’s claim on Usman as baseless. Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Syed Qazi Khalilullah said, "We have repeatedly asked India to refrain from accusations."
Pakistan has continued to insist that it is not aware of Usman's arrest. Pakistan wants India to inform them about Usman's arrest through official channels and provide proof.
Earlier, Pakistan's National Database and Registration Authority claimed that Usman is not a Pakistani citizen and his information could not be found in records.
Notably, the arrested terrorist had said in a confession video that he came to India from Pakistan 12 days ago.
