As many as 25 programme officers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) have proved to be a model to the society in organ donation. The officers under the Higher Secondary Scheme have registered for organ donation with Society for Organ Retrieval and Transplantation (SORT) on Saturday during the launch of ‘Punarjani’.
The scheme launched by Education Minister Abdu Rabb aims at creating awareness in the society on organ donation. Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob presided over the event. During the programme, the funds collected by MKM School, along with the Department of Higher Secondary Association, was handed over to the father of Swathi Krishna, who had undergone a liver transplantation after her aunt donated her liver to Swathi.
Swathi’s father in turn handed over the sum to her aunt Rainy. The Education Minister also distributed the certificates from SORT to the organ donors.
