KOCHI: A quack doctor was arrested by the Mattanchery police from a private hospital here on Tuesday. Ragasree, 28, who was a nurse, had been working in a well-established hospital for the last three years. The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint filed by the hospital authorities. “The hospital authorities became suspicious after noting her way of treatment. The nurses first informed the matter to the management of the hospital following which a complaint was filed against her,” the police said. Police said Ragashree had been practising as a doctor for the last three years at different hospitals in the state. During interrogation, she admitted that she had no degree in MBBS and had only done general nursing. “We are verifying her certificates and a team would be sent to the hospitals where she claimed to have worked as a doctor,” police official said. The private hospital, which appointed her, posted her without verifying her certificates and had only checked the experience certificate.
