Malkangiri: Three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and one civilian were killed in a landmine blast that took place in Malkangiri district of Odisha on Wednesday morning.
Initial reports suggest that the blast was triggered by Naxals. The combing operations are underway and 6 more personnel are reported to be critically injured. The injured have been taken to a hospital in Vishakapatnam.
The BSF jawans went to the Chitrakonda area of Naxal-infested Malkangiri district in south Odisha on Tuesday evening. The incident happened while they were returning on Wednesday morning.
The three jawans died on spot. The civilian succumbed to his injuries which he sustained while he was caught in the exchange of gunfire between security forces and Naxals.
About two weeks ago, BSF had killed 3 Naxals in an combing operation. Wednesday’s attack is being seen as a retaliation from the Naxals.
