CHENNAI: The DMDK, PMK and CPM have urged Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to reverse the decision to shift the Anna Centenary Library to DPI campus.Expressing shock at the decision, DMDK founder Vijayakant said the Anna Centenary Library was located near major educational institutions and it had been helpful to the students to reach the library and use it for research works. If the government wants to set up a super speciality hospital for children, they can establish it in a different place. Strongly condemning the government’s decision, CPM State secretary G Ramakrishnan said the step had only exposed the vindictive attitude of the government against the initiatives of the previous DMK regime. He said the CPM welcomes the decision to set up a super speciality hospital for children. But the government has not taken any step to upgrade the paediatric section in Stanley Hospital and the hospital for children. PMK founder S Ramadoss said it would be impossible to transform the present library into a hospital. Dravidar Kazhagam’s K Veeramani said the shift would be tantamount to insulting the late leader.
