CHENNAI: With the arrest of two Indian Mujahideen members in the city, the Greater Chennai Police have decided to keep vigil on the students from other States who are studying here.A list of such students is under preparation as a first step, said K P Shanmugarajeshwaran, Joint Commissioner of Police, South Zone. Police have already conducted meetings with college authorities, sources said. Details of students, especially those not staying in the college hostels and residing in rented houses, were being gathered, the police said.Once the list is ready, it will be given to the local police stations concerned and the activities of these students monitored. Further investigation will take place if their activities seemed to be suspicious, the police sources added. On Saturday night, the Delhi Police along with Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials had nabbed two persons —Mohammad Irshad Khan (52) and Abdul Rahman (19), a student — from a house at Selaiyur and took them to Delhi for further investigation. Police said the duo had no plans to attack the city, but had visited places such as Ranganathan Street, T Nagar, Burma Bazaar and Richie Street for making purchases.The city police had planned to conduct an inquiry along with the IB officials to find out more about the arrested and also those who helped them in the city.
