CHENNAI: Over 100 writ pleas and PILs, mostly from the DMK, have been filed before the Madras High Court on various issues relating to the conduct of the local body polls. While some sought independent observers, many prayed for videographing of the entire process, besides police protection. The bench said that it would take up all the pleas on October 13. Meanwhile, disposing of a writ plea from J Diwakar, a candidate for ward No 168, Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar directed that police protection be provided to him at his own cost.
