Jammu: Three Pakistani officials dealing with the Indus Water Treaty will arrive on Sunday to inspect the design and the site of a proposed artificial lake in Jammu.

The lake is to be built by using the waters of river Tawi, a tributary of the Chenab, one of three rivers that flow from Jammu and Kashmir into Pakistan. The others are Jhelum and Indus.

Under the World Bank-brokered Indus Water Treaty of 1960, Pakistan can monitor the usage of the water of these rivers on the Indian side.

According to official sources, the Pakistani team would be in Jammu for three days and examine all the records, the site of the proposed lake and the flow of river Tawi which passes through Jammu city.
