BHUBANESWAR: Tension prevailed at Kalinga Hospital after the family members of a patient were baton-charged by the police following a tiff with the hospital authorities on Thursday night.Narendra Nath, a resident of Keonjhar’s Ghasipura, died earlier in the day but hospital management asked the family to pay the full bill before the body could be handed over. The Nath family had paid Rs 30,000 and mobilised another Rs 40,000 against a total bill of Rs 1.18 lakh.When the hospital authorities told them to wait till Friday, the family members agitated. The hospital authorities intimated the local police which tried to persuade the family members but in vain. Later, it resorted to light baton-charge to disperse them.Locals Thrash Robbers Two robbers were given sound thrashing by the locals in different incidents in the City on Thursday.Police said, a robber was trying to snatch a gold necklace near Chintamaniswar Square when he was captured. He faced the public ire. In the second incident, a burglar was caught in Satyasai Enclave and roughed up by the locals. Both have been hospitalised.
