HYDERABAD: Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram has lodged a strong protest with home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy and minister for BC welfare Basawaraju Saraiah, both of whom hail from Telangana, for alleged harassment of Telangana activists by the police.Kodandaram, accompanied by TJAC members Etela Rajender and V Srinivasa Goud, met the home minister and urged her to issue instructions to the police department not to suppress the democratic rights of the people of Telangana. He said he had pointed out to the home minister that police were targeting Telangana activists for making statements that they would disrupt the tour of Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu but were not bothering about the atrocities of the Chandra Dandu, the "private musclemen" of Naidu who were thrashing Telangana activists. "The Chandra Dandu is there only to attack Telangana activists. They broke the leg of an activist and smashed the jaw of another," Kodandaram said."People elect leaders to public offices trusting their promises and when the leaders do not keep their promises, people have every right to corner them. This is what is happening during the tour of Naidu,' he added.
