Mumbai: Rahul Singh, the boyfriend of TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee was on Saturday detained by the Mumbai Police, which is suspecting a suicide. Pratyusha's boyfriend, who had informed the police and her family about her death, was detained following questioning.
The television actress was found dead in her home in Mumbai on Friday. She was found hanging in her home at around 4 pm on Friday.
While the police suspect it to be a case of suicide, a senior police official has said that it is too early to ascertain the cause of the death.
Mumbai Police DCP Vikram Deshpande had said, "The search is going on in the flat where apparently the prima facie suicide has taken place, EDR has been registered and we are doing investigation. It is too early to say the cause of the death."
According to sources, no suicide note has been recovered from Pratyusha's residence, where she allegedly committed suicide. Mumbai police is investigating the circumstances leading up to her death. Post mortem is being conducted at Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon West area of Mumbai.
Pratyusha had reportedly told her friends that she had not been getting any assignments since March 2015. The actress was also having some troubles in her relationship with Rahul Singh.
The neighbours and family members of the actress have also expressed shock at the incident, many claiming that Pratyusha was not one of those who would not commit suicide.
