Kathmandu: Bollywood and Lollywood actors feel that cinema can be used as an effective tool in promoting tourism and strengthening connectivity among the people of the SAARC countries.
The final day of South Asian Association For Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Business Leaders Conclave today was attended by Bollywood actresses Poonam Dhillon, Manisha Koirala, Pakistani actress Reema Khan and former Miss IndiaRitu Singh Vaidya.
During a discussion on 'Connectivity through Cultural exchange and media, Dhillon said, "We can benefit a lot if we could jointly market South Asian tourism."
She also said that SAARC countries should work together to promote tourism to uplift their economy. "Film is a very good medium to promote tourism," Dhillon said.
The actress floated the idea of promoting SAARC countries as beautiful shooting destination for Hollywood films as part of tourism promotion efforts.
"Love and peace can bind people of the SAARC region together," said Reema, noted Pakistani actress.
"Films of India and TV serials of Pakistan have lots of impact in the society," she pointed out, adding, the medium can be used to better connect the people of the entire region "to spread love and peace".
"We all should help in building friendly environment so that film and culture in the region can develop well," said Manisha.
