Since 4 pm, traffic from Peters Road-Anna Salai junction towards DMS was completely disrupted after members of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam gathered there in large numbers.Similarly, there was a pile up of vehicles when those coming from Cathedral Road and turning on to Anna Salai ran into the traffic from the opposite lane that was diverted. Around 5.30 pm, the barricade at Whites Road Junction was removed, but traffic returned to normal only around 6 pm. The regular peak hour traffic added to the woes.
