London: Yorkshire arms dealer Peter Bleach, who was freed after spending eight years in a Kolkata jail in the Purulia arms drop case, said he was willing to return to India to testify against the 'ringleader' Kim Davy.
His statement assumes significance after an agreement between India and Denmark on extradition terms, which would see the suspect, Kim Davy, tried in India, but serve his sentence in Denmark, if convicted.
Bleach of Wykeham, was arrested at the Mumbai Airport in 1995 over an attempt to airdrop an arsenal of weapons into a remote area in West Bengal.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment on gun running charges along with the Latvian crew of his Russian Antonov transport aircraft, but was pardoned in 2004.
Kim Davy, who Bleach says was the front man for the arms buyers, was traced to Denmark by the CBI six years ago.
"Even though I did eight years in the slammer for this, if I were called as a witness I would go back and gladly give evidence," Bleach said, claiming his testimony could be vital.
"As far as I know, if they are going to put Kim Davy on trial, they are going to need witnesses and I am the only one," he added.
"All I know is that Kim Davy was the one who wanted the arms. The whole point was to find out who he wanted them for, which is why I telephoned the British Government," he said.
