Filmmaker and daughter of the superstar, Soundharya Rajinikanth, may have had the luxury of directing her father in her directorial debut, 'Sultan The Warrior' (now 'Hara'), but her sister Aishwarya will have to do with casting only husband Dhanush in the lead in her first film as a filmmaker, titled '3'.
And what's more, her father, who even recently played an extended cameo in 'Kuselan' as a tribute to his mentor K Balachandar, whose production banner produced the movie, will not even do a voice-over for '3', confirmed his daughter.
This was because she did not plan to make him play any part in this film, said the dancer-cum-filmmaker. But '3' is a 'family film' nevertheless, and wife Aishwarya Dhanush will direct hubby Dhanush in this "mass flick" that will be produced by father-in-law Kasthuri Raja (RK Films).
Aishwarya had earlier assisted Dhanush's brother and filmmaker Selvaraghavan during the making of 'Aayirathil Oruvan'. "With two actors in my family (Rajinikanth and Dhanush), I scripted the movie hoping either would be a part of it. I chose Dhanush later," she said, while Dhanush quipped that she would start with directing a small actor like him and then move to the Superstar.
Speaking about her father's response to her decision to direct a film, she said he was happy and also liked the film's title and thought it was very different. '3' is relevant to the film's story.
"It later turned out that '3' was also the lucky number of many crew members," Aishwarya said.
'3', starring Dhanush and Amala Paul, will have music by debutant Anirudh, whose music band Zinx won the finals of band hunt show, 'Ooh la la'. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth, who is convalescing after his Singapore visit, is expected to restart shooting for his magnum opus, 'Rana', in October.
'3' is expected to be released by early 2012.
