Lucknow: A day ahead of the crucial Supreme Court hearing on the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir issue, Ram Janmabhoomi Nirman Samiti litigant Mahant Dharamdas has written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the letter, which was also addressed to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and BJP president Amit Shah, Dharamdas has demanded the impeachment of the Chief Justice of India for his alleged ‘disinterest’ in hearing the case on priority.
“The court has already established that the property should belong to Lord Ram. When a Chief Justice can’t list the 70-year-old case on priority, then what is the use of such a Chief Justice? We don’t have faith in him anymore and that is why we want him removed from this case,” Dharamdas told News18.com.
He also slammed the RSS and VHP for spreading misinformation and creating unnecessary hurdles for the government. “There is rumour being peddled in the country by VHP, RSS and others that a law can be introduced for the construction of the Ram Mandir. This is not possible at all as this is a property dispute and you cannot bring a law over it,” he said.
Earlier this week, in an interview with news agency ANI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had clarified that his party will not bring an ordinance on the issue of Ram Mandir while the matter is being heard in the Supreme Court.
