Recruit through employment exchange

PUDUCHERRY: The Confederation of Puducherry Government Employees’ Association has urged the government to fill up all the existing vacancies in government organisations by recruiting personnel through the employment exchange.In a statement, J Puzharendi, general secretary of the Association, said the vacancies that had arisen after retrenching workers in various government departments and organisations should be filled up as per the rules framed by the government in February 2009. Accordingly, backdoor appointments of  voucher paid employees, daily rated employees, hourly basis workers and consolidated payment basis workers should stop and the government should ensure proper recruitment. Opportunities should be provided to the 1.5 lakh youth registered at the exchange.Justifying the retrenchment of workers, the association maintained that the engagement of temporary workers was in violation of the order of the High Court of Madras and the new scheme evolved by the government in 2009.It also alleged that such jobs were provided by taking bribes.
