THOOTHUKUDI: Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister SP Shanmughanathan gave away compensation to the fire accident victims who lost their houses in the fire that broke out at Kuranganthattu, Tiruchendur taluk on Thursday.A fire, which broke out at Kuranganthattu of Nallur village, Tiruchendur taluk around 7 pm on Thursday, engulfed and destroyed around 45 houses. The damage caused by the fire is valued at Rs 10 lakh and fortunately, there were no casualties except for a dog owned by Mariappan, which was charred to death. The victims of the fire accident were accommodated in the community hall atKuranganthattu. Thoothukudi Collector Ashish Kumar and District Revenue Officer Amirthajothi inspected the damaged houses.Shanmughanathan gave away relief of Rs 5,000 each to the victims of the fire accident on Friday. Further, 10 kg of rice each to the victims’ kin was also provided.
