BANGALORE: The Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) along with the Karnataka Knowledge Commission organised a State-level workshop on ‘Innovation by District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) - Samarth’ where 7 DIETs took part to put forth their ideas which can strengthen the ways of education. DIET has been conceived as a teacher training and curriculum development institutions.During the programme, presentations were made by representatives from each of the DIET’s regarding the ways in which education can be improved.Samarth is a collaborative project of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission, Department of Primary and Secondary Education and DSERT.“Those who are present here today should be a model for all the other DIETs within the State (total of 30). Bangalore has grown in so many spheres like IT and BT. It should also grow in terms of education,” said Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri who was present at the inauguration of the workshop.He advised the presenters of their projects to talk about the challenges they have faced during the project as well as speak with in such a way that it inspires others people. “The DIETs should identify the challenges and problems and in field and work on strengthening them,” he said.
