CHENNAI: Just a day after actress Ranjitha filed a complaint against the Sun Network and Nakkeeran publications for dissemination of an obscene video allegedly featuring her, the other person involved, tainted godman Nithyananda addressed a stormy press conference in the city on Wednesday. Heated arguments with reporters aside, Nithyananda also made gesticulations of spitting on media houses that had propagated the video and spoke of ‘slippering them’.Nithyananda shared the stage with Ranjitha for the first time since the controversy, with the actress carefully placed two seats away from the self-styled godman. Nithyananda singled out reporters from the Sun Network, Nakkeeran group of publications and Dinakaran newspaper at the press conference, belittling their organisations for “bringing shame to all media houses”.The entire event was carefully choreographed by Nithyananda’s followers. They set around 70 devotees rushing into the hall, to bolster their leader the moment an altercation broke out between Nithyananda and a reporter. When the arguments refused to die down, police personnel posted at the spot stepped in to intervene. But they were curtly asked to leave by both Nithyananda and reporters.
