It’s no big deal changing a man into a woman’s getup. But when it comes to turning the man into a sultry seductress from tip to toe it becomes something far too demanding. And that is what Roshan NG has done in the film ‘Mayamohini’, where actor Dileep appears as a pretty woman throughout the film.
“'Mayamohini' focuses on Maya, a beautiful woman, and turning Dileep into an attractive woman was our major task. In the film Maya is the wife of Biju Menon’s character and also the lover of two other men. My major challenge was spotting the typical male features in Dileep and transforming them into essential female ones,” says Roshan.
He says since it’s the faces of the stars that sell the films, as a makeup artist he had to keep the star value intact while transforming the actor. “The commitment Dileep has shown for his role is highly commendable. The team as a whole took a lot of pain to bring the look of Maya. It’s easy to conceal the eyebrows and put an artificial one but Dileep wanted his eyebrows to be shaped and even pierced his ears look like a normal woman,” Roshan says.
The team also ran a trial for three days from morning to evening to get that perfect look.
“It takes 4 hours to do the makeup in initial days of the shooting and later we managed to reduce the time due to time constraint and hot climate. The special wig, which forms an essential part of makeup, is made of original hair. We could go for any kind of hairdo,” he adds.
Roshan was earlier noted for his work in the period film ‘Pazhassiraja’. The makeup artist has also won many international awards. He was recently given the Best Makeup Artist award for an English film ‘Lessons in Forgetting’ at the Sunset International Film Festival, Los Angles. The talented artist is also working for Kamal Haasan’s ‘Viswaroopam’, which also needs some unique makeup.
