The police are now trying to trace his parents.

New Delhi: Pressure to perform well in school has landed a 6-year-old boy from Delhi at a Dehradun police station.

Constantly rebuked by his parents, he ran away from home. The police are now trying to trace his parents.

He makes friends easily, clicks his own pictures with the cellphone and wants to be a police officer. A bright child many would say, but Bunty alleges his father beat him everyday because he did badly at school. Tired of constant rebukes, Bunty ran away from home in Delhi three days back. He then boarded a train, which led him to Dehradun.

Bunty said, "train mein baith ke aa gaya (I got in the train and came here)"

Soon after he got to Dehradun, the class two student was picked up by the police. An NGO called Chetna has been assisting the police in finding his parents.

Member, NGO, Chetna Jagdeep Bisht said, "From what he tells us, it appears that he is from somewhere close to Ajmeri gate."

SP (City), Dehradun Jagatram Joshi said, "We are trying to track the parents."

Bunty was produced before the district magistrate on Monday who directed the police to keep him at an ashram till his parents were traced.
