The hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa will be opened on August 16 for the celebration of the Malayalam month of Chingam.
Melsanthi G Balamurali will open the sreekovil at 5.30 pm in the presence of Thantri Kandararu Rajivaru. As a practice no pooja will be held in the evening.
Sabarimala devaswom executive officer Sankaranarayana Pillai said that laksharchana would be held on August 17, the first day of the new Malayalam new year month of Chingam. As part of the ritual, Thantri Kandararu Rajivaru would perform poojas on brahmakalasam at 8 am after ushapooja.
Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam would be the other rituals to be conducted in the temple. Udayasthamana pooja, pushpabhishekam and padipooja would be conducted on all the five days.
The temple would be closed on August 21 evening after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam. Temple to reopen on August 27 for Onam festival: Lord Ayyappa temple would reopen on August 27 evening for four days for Onam celebrations.
The Onasadya, offered by Melsanthi G Balamurali, would be held on August 28.
