Srinagar: Actor Salman Khan, who batted for reopening cinema in Kashmir, has irked the separatist quarters who have described cinema as the greatest vice to encourage waywardness among the society.
Dukhteran Millat chief Asiya Andrabi hit out at Salman saying that he is acting as an agent of cultural aggression. She also said that her party would resist the re-launch of cinema in Kashmir valley.
She said that way back in 1988, her organisation had ensured that cinema was shut and her party would continue to pledge for total closure of cinema. Asiya termed Salman as a murderer and also hit at the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led government for promotion of Bollywood into Kashmir.
Salman, after completing his shooting schedule for 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' in north Kashmir said Salman said Switzerland has nothing better to offer by way of outdoor locales in comparison to Kashmir.
The Bollywood star said the people of Kashmir were "extremely gentle, beautiful, simple and well-mannered. I request others to come here. I had intended to come and shoot for 'Dabangg', but that did not happen," Salman said.
He said he wanted cinema theatres to re-open in the Valley. "Everyone watches movies here. Cinema theatres should be re-opened here. We would love to premiere a film here if theatres are re-opened," he said.
