BANGALORE: The High Court on Friday adjourned the further hearing of Mysore Sanskrit College petition against the state government's order prescribing a uniform timetable for colleges. The college does not have holidays on Sundays except for three days during the no-moon day and the full moon day.The petitioners of Mysore Sanskrit college had approached the court for seeking the holiday according to the lunar calendar like Dwiteeya (2nd day), Thrayodashi (13th day), Chaturdashi (14th day), Hunnime (full moon day) and Amavasye (no moon day). These days are termed as 'Anadhyayan' days in vedic style, which are traditionally not supposed to be used for studies in the vedic system of education. Therefore, the petitioners demanded, that these days of every month in the lunar calendar have to be declared as holidays for their college. The counsel for Sanskrit College Rohit Gowda, argued that college is currently following the Smritis tradition.A single bench headed by Justice Ram Mohan Reddy adjourned the further hearing hearing the petition.
