KOZHIKODE: Every girl in the country should be aware that women are not weaker than men to enjoy their lives to the fullest, said Kerala High Court Judge R Basant. He was delivering the keynote address after inaugurating the discussion ‘Security of Women at workplaces — A fundamental right’ organised by Punarjani here on Monday. The judge also added that the women of the new generation were enjoying many advantages than earlier days, as the advent of science and technology has given the traditional women time to think and act against exploitation against the women folk. Justice R Basant candidly admitted that the Indian society was very much patriarchal and chauvinistic one and women always have been exploited by men. He added that it was in this juncture the need for gender education becomes relevant and only then would be the actual equality would arise in the mindset of the people. In his speech the justice also added that scientific innovations such as birth control measures has curbed unwanted pregnancies and has helped women.
